Engineers at the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design designed a new model of racing truck

28. March 2012

Frantisek Vojtisek, famous Czech racer, commonly known as Frankie, is coming back to truck racing after a two year break. Legend of Czech automobile sport has introduced his team and equipment that he will employ at the European Championship at a press conference held at MAN Truck & Bus Czech Republic office in Cestlice u Prahy on March 9. Frankie OXXO Truck Racing Team is a joint project of Frankie Truck Racing Team and Hungarian OXXO Racing team with Akos Jobbagy as a leader. In addition to Vojtisek, who finished second in previous European Championship, the team will be made up by Jobbagy countryman Norbert Kiss (best beginner at 2011 European Truck Racing Championship) and Russian pilot Alexander Lvov. Lvov has experience not only in truck racing but also in World Touring Car Championships.

Manufacturing of three special models of MAN EVO 012/one, contrived by Ladislav Křenek, Associate Professor and academic sculptor at the Department of Industrial Design at IMID at FME, is now being finished in plants in Jablonec nad Nisou while MAN Company has greatly contributed with their technical knowledge and material support. Conceptual solution to racing truck design originates at FME at Brno University of Technology (BUT) under the auspices of newly established NETME Centre. Its ambition is to incorporate new quality of both esthetic and technical parameters in truck racing. Global solution to truck racing design also integrates various technical elements such as engine and break cooling and aerodynamics. Frantisek Vojtisek required in the design study that the side view of lower vehicle pontoon without cockpit imitates F1 monopost. This task was fully completed within the restricted criteria.

NETME Centre was built with the financial support from the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations within the project NETME Centre
(New Technologies for Mechanical Engineering), Reg. No. CZ.1.05/2.1.00/01.0002 and, in the follow-up sustainability stage, supported through NETME Centre PLUS (LO1202)
by financial means from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports under the „National Sustainability Programme I
