AMM division obtained unique project grant from Dobeneck-Technologie-Stiftung foundation

18. October 2012

Dobeneck-Technologie-Stiftung foundation decided to support the unique electron beam technology laboratories located at the Division of AMM at NETME Centre and provided project grant of 0.25 million €.

Thanks to this support the electron beam generator power will increase up to 15 kW at 150 kV and the whole system will be extended by installation of a mounting support enabling horizontal positioning of the electron gun including related safety systems, rotation-tilt rig for versatile workpiece positioning, CNC wire feeder allowing for the feeder push/pull to be regulated and thus enabling precise control of the surface alloying process, clean vacuum system for the oil-free environment, etc. This grant also includes half-year training of one Division of AMM researcher at the University of Freiberg and one training course for 2 more laboratory workers in the facility of the system’s manufacturer – the Pro-beam company.

The extensions mentioned above will vastly broaden the field of application of the EB system into the automotive and airspace industry and possibilities of RandD community to develop novel material treatment procedures.

NETME Centre was built with the financial support from the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations within the project NETME Centre
(New Technologies for Mechanical Engineering), Reg. No. CZ.1.05/2.1.00/01.0002 and, in the follow-up sustainability stage, supported through NETME Centre PLUS (LO1202)
by financial means from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports under the „National Sustainability Programme I
